LAS VEGAS — Down, but not out, Volkswagen has officially unveiled at International CES a car that signifies its new way forward. Diesel is done (I hope) and, in its place, VW will focus on electrification.
It’s called the BUDD-e and, as you can see, it’s both a nod to the German carmaker’s past as well as its future.
Ignore the looks or the 373-mile all-electric range. Perhaps the coolest thing VW has said about its new BUDD-e microbus EV concept is this: “BUDD-e is a mobile interface which connects the vehicle with the world around it.” Now if that doesn’t sound like the statement of a car brand ready to remake itself, I don’t know what does.
